Allright, the news is out.
In Second Life, the city Amsterdam has been sold to a Dutch real estate company called Nedstede.
The new owner has been pointed out, that he will mirror the real life Amsterdam, with the online version as close as possible. So the sex shops, drugs (maybe?), hookers, the smell, and so much more. The owner also has the club IT, a part of Roxy, The Mansion in Amsterdam. And they want to integrate most of their businesses into Second Life. So i think the Place Amsterdam will be rocking the next few months. They have to search only for a good SL scripter i think……. So if there is anyone want to have a job. Contact Nestede for this i think….

A complete virtual sim in Second life for $20,000.00
It’s one of the most visitedplaces in the virtual world. This is not only of the realistic sim, but also thru the atmosphere that is on this amazing place! Even www.secondlifeinsider.com besteedde er aandacht aan. Serpentine is the official designer, an says that he AND Amsterdam grows in different directions. Don’t have the time anymore, and somebody has to take it over.
So somebody has been build since 2006 with this project and now he wants to sell it. Amazing work and money!

Residents pleased with magic wands, school uniforms
by Curious Rousselot, Magical Affairs Department
Wizard Alley now open
Excited students and teachers of the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry were celebrating Friday as the recently closed Magic Alley re-opened in Oahu as the new Wizard’s Alley. Students, staff, and vendors crowd the new Alley chatting excitedly about the return of their beloved Harry Potter themed sim - and hints about a party today - March 3rd from 4 to 7 PM SL time.
As reported in the Herald, the Harry Potter fan sim Magic Alley was shut down on February 1, 2007 after the stress and effort of maintaining the sim became too much for the owner, Petra Carpenter. Although this came as a shock to many of the students who frequented Magic Alley, the inner circle of developers, builders, and others who helped Petra build the sim were well aware and supportive of […]

Jose Rote “hopes they don’t get banned”
HQ may move to Sundance Film Festival’s island in a week
by Pixeleen Mistral, National Affairs desk
Jose Rote
Tuesday evening, Jose Rote - the owner of John Edwards’ Second Life campaign headquarters - had his hands full. A strikingly similar headquarters next door supporting a TV psychic was mocking the idea of running presidential campaigns inside a game world. Even worse, his compound was becoming a high maintenance operation with reports of overnight defacing of the pristine building. I spoke with Mr. Rote as he cleaned “last one to die please turn out the light” graffiti from the floor of the metaverse HQ for the John Edwards campaign.
When I asked Mr. Rote for his reaction to the TV mind reading psychic John Edward presidential HQ next door he found the idea behind the build boring - but he was also concerned about possible texture theft. Perhaps […]

It’s bad enough having Fox News excoriate you for not staffing your HQ and calling on you to denounce virtual underage sex brothels, but now there is the problem of Republican griefers. According to an Edwards campaign worker, it was not pretty.
Shortly before midnight (CST) on Monday, February 26, a group of republican Second Life users, some sporting “Bush ‘08″ tags, vandalized the John Edwards Second Life HQ. They plastered the area with Marxist/Lenninist posters and slogans, a feces spewing obsenity, and a photoshopped picture of John in blackface, all the while harrassing visitors with right-wing nonsense and obsenity-laden abuse of Democrats in general and John in particular.
Story is here. The campaign worker says he filed an abuse report with Linden Lab. Um, sure, that’ll work.

Fox News political analyst and former AOL VP Kirsten Powers has posted a video blog calling for Democratic Presidential Candidate John Edwards to denounce some of his unseemly second life neighbors, including the “virtual rape fantasy clubs, virtual underage sex brothels and sadly unsurprising proliferation of porn.” Behold the video:
An Excerpt from the blog itself is below the fold:
From Kirsten Powers’ Blog:
“As you will see, the Edwards HQ has some disturbed neighbors. Particularly troubling are the rape fantasy clubs and the child sex brothel called Jailbait (the “owner” of the club, a 35-year- old woman named Emily Semaphore refers it as “age-play.”) The “Second Life Herald” complains that “Intersexed Avatar Children Hard to Find” [I think Kirsten’s irony detectors need adjusting — Uri] and provides this handy graph to explain what kind of virtual child sex the adult members of Second Life are engaging in
And when I went to […]

“Our second lives are as empty as our first”
by Superfluous Pharaoh, Wizard of Extraordinary Talents
Ah, Second Life! Repeatedly hailed as the usher of a new era, a land of infinite variability, where the curious can fills their eyes and minds with limitless wonders; where the creative can pour the brimming excess of their souls into vessels without number. For many, however, this noble dream amounts to little more than a melancholy shuffling through an endless maze of consumption: fields of catatonic avatars camping and dancing and gambling their lives away for the hollow promise of the shopping centers- a look for every lust and a device for every vice.
A small group of souls hopelessly immersed in sin
It is no surprise that thousands of our citizens are left hollow; unappeased by even the incalculable vastness of the Second Life market. Polyester Partridge, one fashion-forward young resident, summarized this far-reaching plight […]

After several hours we realize that there is just no way to kill each other here. My hatred for that bastard Rudy is as strong as his for me, but hatred alone won’t settle this. We quit blasting each other with useless push guns and look for a way to die in the SL world. The next thing I know, we’re staring at each other across a scripted Russian Roulette table.
“So, this is it. It ends here,” Rudy growls.
“Looks like it.”
Rudy and I don’t agree on much, but neither one of us likes alt accounts. Whoever dies here would be out of SL for good. Our feud has spanned the metaverse from way back in LambdaMOO, all the way through Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, and a half-dozen other worlds. The original reason forgotten by us both, we’ve given each […]

Francis Barraud, His Master’s Voice.
By Prokofy Neva, Dept. of Linden Trees Falling in the Simulated Forest And No One Hearing Them
The Lindens’ announcement that they’re going to add voice to Second Life will likely be met with mixed responses.
In the typical upbeat LL fashion, the Blob tells us that “many” residents wanted to have voice, but in fact this isn’t something we can determine accurately that “most” wanted. Those who truly need voice within SL tend to use Skype, Shoutcast servers, Ventrillo, etc. already. But having it Always On will pose problems for significant numbers.
First, the price tag. We knew when the Lindens said they were “grandfathering the island tiers for a year” that we should count the silverware. We just didn’t think that it would mean they’d add on new features, and then say, oh, you can’t have that new feature unless you pony up the […]

Psychic John Edward supporters build HQ next to politico John Edwards HQ
Baku goon swing vote likely to go Edward - Edwards supporters silent
by Pixeleen Mistral, National Affairs desk
Edward and Edwards campaigns running side by side
Potential perils awaiting earnest politicians in the metaverse became real Sunday evening. Given the mainstream media’s breathless excitement about supporters of John Edwards american presidential bid creating a headquarters in Second Life it was bound to happen. Next door to John Edwards’ in-world campaign HQ, supporters of a challenger have launched a campaign for John Edward - a TV psychic.
I stopped by the John Edward supporter’s campaign center in Kkotsam sim and spoke with Mr. Decomposing Monstre about the campaign. Mr. Monstre told me that he “respects Mr Edwards campaign, but really in the end ask yourself, what can the man offer you? I mean he can’t even speak to dead people. That’s entry level […]
